Finishing work in Cyprus includes a number of important aspects during construction and renovation projects. Interior finishing work in Cyprus can be divided into two stages: plastering the surfaces first and then finishing with putty. Plastering and puttying walls are preparatory work before applying the final decorative layer (paint, wallpaper, decorative plaster, or decorative panels). The quality of this work will determine the durability and suitability of the application and installation of the above-mentioned materials.

Before plastering walls, it's important to determine the room's intended use and the expected humidity level. Plastering walls in damp areas such as showers and bathtubs requires cement-based mixtures. This material does not lose its physical properties in high humidity, maintaining a strong and reliable base. Typically, this material serves as a base for tile and porcelain tiles and requires increased strength. Before choosing a material, specifically plaster, it's important to select the right plaster mix.

Our company, Yarylo Construction, has extensive experience in plastering and puttying. We always use ready-mixed plasters, not sand and cement mixed together. Ready-mixed plasters for finishing work have an optimal proportion of plasticizers, fiber, and other components, which is not the case with mixtures prepared on-site.

For rooms with moderate humidity, such as bedrooms, living rooms, and hallways, it's recommended to use dry gypsum-based plaster mixes. Plastering with this material produces extremely smooth walls, which isn't the case with cement-sand mixtures.

A distinctive feature of plastering work in Cyprus is the need to use a special mesh, which prevents cracks from appearing on the surfaces of walls and ceilings.

The final stage of finishing work is puttying. There are several options for this material: dry putty and ready-mixed putty. Ready-mixed putty is sold in buckets and is preferred due to its physical and chemical properties. It allows for the creation of perfect surfaces. Walls are prepared for painting using this type of putty.

Finishing work and its results are often overshadowed by other finishing touches, such as painting, wallpapering, and installing other decorative finishes. However, it's important to remember that poorly executed finishing touches can ruin the entire renovation.
