Underfloor heating in Cyprus is a necessity, not an extravagance. It's commonly believed that Cyprus is warm even in winter, but this isn't entirely true. Daytime temperatures on the coast can drop to 5 degrees Celsius, and at night, to -1 degrees Celsius. Add to this the high humidity. Living conditions in such conditions are extremely uncomfortable.

Underfloor heating is a very practical and economical way to heat residential and commercial spaces. There are two main types of underfloor heating: hydronic and electric. Each type has its own installation requirements and applications.

Underfloor heating installation begins with a design and the selection of necessary equipment and materials. Underfloor heating installation is carried out taking into account the future furniture layout and wet areas.

Hydronic underfloor heating includes a boiler, a manifold from which the heating circuits branch, and may also include an additional circulation pump. All this equipment requires space and is typically housed in dedicated rooms, but can also be installed in kitchen cabinets. Hydronic underfloor heating generates heat using special pipes laid under a screed at least 5 cm thick, which is further reinforced with a metal mesh.

Electric underfloor heating comes in a variety of designs and can be installed under various floor coverings. One installation option is a special cable laid in the screed. There are also special films and other types of underfloor heating that can be installed on top of the finished screed, within layers of tile adhesive. Electric underfloor heating does not require a boiler; its system includes thermostats and temperature sensors. Thermostats and sensors are installed in individual rooms and allow for individual temperature control.

Underfloor heating installation involves not only the installation of the equipment but also preparatory work such as floor leveling, thermal insulation installation, and surface preparation for the final coating. It's important to consider the power supply and plumbing requirements.

All work on installing heated floors must be carried out before final finishing work.
